Pilates has really helped me become more attuned with my body. One of my passions and hobbies is dance. Pilates has definitely helped with the alignment of my body and strengthening my core which has in return made my balance better. My daughter has an upcoming wedding and convinced me to join a Pilate’s class with her to get fit before the big event. I had great reservations about attending because in the past I had never been faithful about going to any type exercise class and I have tried them all. Kelly Milton has made my classes challenging, but geared to my abilities. I have recommended her classes to all of my friends because I am a true believer in the great benefits. No matter what age or ability level you are I highly recommend Kelly, she is the absolute BEST.

I have been coming to Breathe Pilates for over a year now and can honestly say that it is amazing! I have never in my life stuck with any type of exercise program for this long and I plan to continue to do so. Pilates has improved my flexibility, my energy level, and most importantly, I can feel the difference in my body. I am so much stronger now! Everyone on the staff is wonderful; they are extremely professional, friendly and fun at the same time. Kelly constantly motivates me to go further and do things I didn’t think I was able to do. Once I reach a point where I feel like I’ve just about mastered something, she changes things up and keeps me working harder so you are always improving. I attend classes twice a week but would come every day if I could! I especially enjoy the Cardiolates classes, they will kick your butt—but in a good way!!

I started attending private sessions at Breathe Pilates about 4 months prior to having my right shoulder totally replaced. I wasn’t sure this would work for me because I was so terribly tight and stiff, I ached in my joints all the time and I had plantar fasciitis in both my feet. I have asthma and in previous exercise experienced I could keep up, especially when it came time to do exercises in a prone position because of the shallowness of my breathing. I moaned and groaned and gave my first instructor, Kelly, a hard time with each new exercise but I did them and was just starting to feel a little bit of confidence when I was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis. With only a few months of Pilates behind me I was thrilled to be able to use my core muscles to get up from the hospital bed without any assistance immediately after my surgery. I resumed my Pilates after my doctor released me from rehab and have made great progress in mobility, strength and flexibility of all of my joints. I don’t give my current instructor Laura as hard a time as I did in the beginning because with each new exercise she teaches me I know I am improving – it’s a challenge but it is so rewarding to accomplish the task. Just knowing I can do the various exercises helps me feel so much better about myself – I feel graceful. I am learning to focus on certain muscle groups and I can actually tell when I am doing an exercise correctly because I can really feel the muscles involved. This has been a really wonderful experience for me – one that I intend to continue!

I’ve been a runner for years and it’s always kept me in shape. Two years after having my son I was diagnosed with Grave’s disease – which took a huge toll on my body – I lost weight, then gained weight, lost muscle mass, looked and felt bloated, and was exhausted all of the time. Running didn’t seem to produce the results it had before the diagnosis. In fact, I had very little energy to do much of anything. A friend suggested I try pilates – that’s when I discovered the Breathe Pilates Studio. I’ve worked Kelly for over a year – I’m stronger, more fit, have more muscle tone and muscle mass, my weight is consistent and exactly where I want it to be, I am able to run more and enjoy a cardio workout again. Finally, I have the energy I need to be the mother I want to be.

I had always been interested in trying Pilates after hearing a friend sing its praises and finally had the opportunity to sign up for some classes a year ago. My goal was to regain some of my strength back. Pilates helped me to do just that. It’s safe to say I am stronger than I have ever been and I feel great. My posture has improved and I can see & feel a difference in my arms and legs. It’s so great when you can feel yourself improving and reaching milestones you didn’t think you were capable of achieving. Kelly is a wonderful instructor who pushes us each and every class, even when we moan and groan, all the while with a smile on her face! She is dedicated to her profession and it is evident in her instruction and the way in which she runs her studio. Taking Pilates has proven to be one the best decisions I’ve made for myself and now I sing its praises to anyone who will listen!

I was looking for options to back surgery when I found Breathe Pilates and Kelly Milton. In 2003 I hurt my back and in 2005 I had neck surgery. I had gone through physical therapy for my neck and countless steroid shots for both my back and neck. My neck had not healed properly and my back has severe arthritis in it. I tried yoga, but could tell that it was not going to help my neck. I was trying non-impact aerobic exercises, but I needed to strengthen my core. After a year with Kelly, I feel better than I have in years. The stretching and exercises done on the reformer are just what I needed. I was so tight when I started and Kelly was so good to modify exercises to each one’s ability. I have gained so much core strength and look forward to getting stronger. The reformer puts no stress on my back so I always come out of a class feeling great. Kelly will put you through your paces, but will never give you anything she thinks you can’t handle.
